The Alpine CDA 9884 is a car CD changer that you can install in your vehicle, giving you the ability to listen to music CDs and FM and AM radio stations through your speakers while you drive. The CDA 9884 features a faceplate to adjust the sound and an iPod input cable to connect your MP3 player to the device. If you are having problems with this device, you can follow troubleshooting steps to try to solve them.
Instructions
1. Insert the key into the ignition switch and start the vehicle if the Alpine unit has no power. This device gets power from the battery of your vehicle. Press the "Power" button on the face to turn it on. If the unit does not respond, check the fuse of the unit in the breaker box of your car and replace it if necessary. If the device still does not work, you may need to take your vehicle to a car audio specialist.
2. Press the "Mode" button to enter "Radio" mode if you wish to pick up radio stations. If the stations do not come in or are weak, you may have a problem with the antenna. Manually pull your antenna out to its fullest length and try again. If you are in the service area of a station and are still not getting a signal, you may have a wiring problem and will need to consult a car audio specialist.
3. Press the "Eject" button if the changer is not playing a CD properly or you cannot insert a CD because one is already inserted. Examine the CD for scratches or dents. If the CD is damaged, it will not play properly. If the CD is fine, take the vehicle to an area that is close to room temperature; the unit will not work if it is above 120 degrees. If the unit still does not work, you may have a wiring problem and need to contact a specialist.
4. Remove the disc from the CD player if the display reads "Protect" or "Unsupported." This means that the CD has tracks that are file protected or an unsupported format and will not work in the unit. If the display reads "Error" followed by a number, call Alpine customer support at 800-257-4631 to get help with the problem.
