How Do You Use A Macro Setting On A Camera Lens

A macro lens can allow you to take pictures of items close to the lens in focus.

The macro mode on a digital camera allows the camera to focus on objects such as coins, bugs or flowers that are exceptionally close to the camera lens. Most consumer point-and-shoot cameras have a macro mode built in. Professional cameras, however, also have the option of a special macro lens.

Instructions

1. Remove the current lens on your camera and replace it with your macro lens.

2. Activate the macro mode on your camera. On most cameras, the macro mode is activated by pressing a button on the back of the camera with a picture of a flower beside it.

3. Turn the switch on the side of the lens to "AF" to take a picture using the macro mode and your camera's auto focus. Frame your shot and press the shutter button on your camera down halfway to focus on your subject. Press the shutter down the remainder of the way to take a picture.

4. Turn the switch on the side of the camera lens to "MF" to manually focus on your subject. Turn the outer ring on the macro lens to focus on your subject and then press the shutter button down to take a picture.
