Convert Analog To Mp3

Records playing on a turntable use analog technology to create the sounds people hear. Converting an analog recording to an MP3 audio format requires the record to be turned into a digital file. The most efficient way to do this is to get a turntable with a USB output that can connect to a computer. This allows for audio-recording software on the computer to be used to make an MP3 recording from the record as it plays.

Instructions

1. Download and install the free Audacity software (see Resources), then restart the computer.

2. Attach a USB cable from the USB turntable to the computer, put on a record and begin playing it.

3. Run the Audacity program. Press the "Record" button to start recording the record that is playing

4. Pause the Audacity program when the first side of the record ends. Flip the record and resume the process.

5. Press the "Stop" button on the Audacity program when the second side of the record ends. Save the recorded file in the MP3 audio format to the computer's hard drive.
