How Play An Evp Recorder In Reverse

EVP (electronic voice phenomena) is a voice imprint thought to be that of a spirit. These "voices" are often heard in the white and pink noise channels of the sound spectrum in digital recordings. Some people believe these messages can only be heard when a recording is listened to in reverse. Some more expensive digital recorders will play EVPs in reverse. If your recorder doesn't have this feature, there's still a way you can reverse the EVP recording.

Instructions

1. Transfer your EVP from your digital recorder to your computer using a USB cord. Open the resulting file in audio software that will allow you to play the EVP in reverse. Any basic audio editing software will do this. While there are many audio products available, Audacity is free and works on PC or Mac.

2. Save the file from your digital recorder as an MP3 file. Your digital recorder software will open by default when you click your EVP file. Once you've opened it, the "File" menu will have your "Export" command.

3. Open the MP3 file in Audacity. Click at the beginning of the MP3 file on the graph and drag the cursor to select the entire MP3 file. Go to the "Effects" menu and click on the "Reverse" option. Audacity will flip the file. Now click on the "Play" button and you will be able to listen to your EVP backward.

4. Select only a portion of your EVP if that's all you need to hear reversed. If you want to hear your reversed recording at a slower speed, use the sliding speed control located on the toolbar. This is an effective way to hear what's going on in the clip.
