Improve Signal Quality For Hd Radio

High-definition radio, also known as HD radio, provides static-free audio that is typically better quality than FM radio. However, the antenna of a HD radio receiver is built-in, and often suffers from interference from a number of common household items. Improving the signal strength of an HD radio can be done by eliminating the sources of the interference or by adding an external antenna. This requires following a few guidelines and purchasing some parts from an electronics supply store.


Instructions


1. Stand the HD rabbit ears antenna that will be used to focus and gather the HD radio waves next to the HD radio. Loosen the two screws from the two antenna connections on the back of the HD radio. Place one of the two wires connected to the HD rabbit ears antenna around one of the two antenna connections. Tighten the screw closed over the antenna prong with the Phillips screwdriver. Repeat this procedure with the other wire connected to the HD rabbit ears antenna and the other antenna prong on the back of the HD radio.


2. Place the HD radio next to a window or on a windowsill. Remove any metal objects or devices from within a 2-foot range of the HD radio.


3. Place the HD radio in a location farthest from the Wi-Fi transmitter of your wireless home network. Turn off or unplug any nearby wireless receiver or wireless transmitter or access point that is in the proximity of the HD radio.


4. Loosen the screws on the second antenna connectors on the back of the HD radio with the Phillips screwdriver. Enhance the HD radio reception by attaching one of the two contact lugs of an HD/FM indoor radio antenna to one of the two antenna connectors on the back of the HD radio. Attach the other contact lug of the HD/FM indoor radio antenna around the other antenna connector on the back of the HD radio. Screw in the antenna connector screws with the Phillips screwdriver.
