The Argus 75, a twin-lens reflex camera manufactured from 1958 to 1964, features two small lenses in the front and a viewfinder on top so you can see what your picture will look like before you take it. While the body of this camera is sturdy and holds up well, it is normal that it would need cleaning if it hasn't been used in some time.
Instructions
1. Blow the lens to clear away any loose residue. Do this so you don't end up grinding the particles into the lens as you are cleaning it. The Argus has two lenses in the front.
2. Brush the lenses with a camel-hair brush if they are very dirty or have dirt particles stuck to them. It would not be uncommon for a camera this age to have accumulated dirt. Do not scrub or rub the lens.
3. Dampen the microfiber cloth with Windex or ROR solution.
4. Wipe the two lenses clean. If fingerprints remain, buff the lenses lightly with the dry end of the cloth.
5. Open the viewfinder on top of the camera. Since the viewfinder usually remains closed, it should not need as much cleaning as the two front lenses.
6. Wipe the viewfinder window clean, using the Windex or ROR and microfiber cloth. For hard-to-reach corners of the viewfinder window, dampen a cotton swap and wipe clean.
