Reset A Hasler Chip

The Hasler chip lets you know if you need ink.

Hasler is a North American company known for creating cost-effective shipping systems and equipment. One of the products in the line includes Hasler chips. The Hasler chip comes inside of Hewlett Packard cartridges. It has red ink, which you refill for postage. This chip monitors the amount of ink left inside of your HP cartridge. The chip sends a warning to your computer that the ink is low, and your printer will no longer print. Sometimes it can mislead you, making you think you need additional ink. In this case, you can reset the chip to allow your printer to work again.

Instructions

1. Turn off your printer. Press and hold the "GO" button. Wait for the "Cold Reset" phrase to display on the screen. If you do not have a display, the lights in front of the printer should turn red.

2. Release the "GO" button. The words, "Initialing," "Restoring" and "Offline" will display on the screen. Alternatively, the lights in the back will flash periodically.

3. Press the "GO" button once again. Pressing this button will allow the cartridge and printer to print in the normal online mode.
