Compare Nikon Coolpix Cameras

Compare Nikon CoolPix Cameras

Nikon Coolpix cameras are small, compact and come in various colors. These digital cameras allow you to view the picture immediately after taking it on the viewfinder. They are highly convenient and take great pictures. Comparing the Nikon Coolpix cameras is recommended to determine which one would work best for the kind of photos you want to take. For instance, if you plan to take pictures for an art class or for a magazine, you will want a camera that has high quality and a large amount of megapixels.

Instructions

1. Read reviews about Nikon Coolpix cameras. There are reviews placed on various websites, including reviews.CNET.com and infosyncworld.com (both in resources). These will give you a better idea which camera fits your needs.

2. Determine the megapixel availability for different Nikon Coolpix cameras. Some cameras may have 10 megapixels while others have 13.5 or 14.5. The higher the number, the more megapixels are in the picture, allowing you to better enlarge the photos. If you do not intend to enlarge the photos any larger than 20 inches by 30 inches, then you will be fine with any of the megapixel sizes available.

3. Find out how much noise is in each Nikon Coolpix camera. Noise is the amount of fuzz that will appear in the picture when taken in low lighting. For example, a Coolpix with ISO 3200 will have some noise in the photograph. ISO 6400 will have less noise.

4. Notice which Nikon Coolpix cameras have stabilizers. A stabilizer allows you to take a picture without shaking, making the photo sharp.

5. Compare how close the Nikon Coolpix cameras can get to an object without distorting it. The 3.6x or 4x optical zoom lenses are the most practical since those lenses can get close to the object you are photographing. If you want to be able to get an extreme closeup of a subject, you will want the highest number on the optical zoom among your choices of Coolpix cameras.

6. Check the Coolpix cameras for GPS capability. Few Nikon Coolpix cameras have this capability, but you may be willing to pay more to have it. The GPS will mark the photos where they were taken without you having to do it after they are printed.
