Choose A Cordless Phone

So you want to know choose a good cordless phone? While cell phones seem to be taking over the world, many of us still need our landlines for cheap long distance or just because our phones are in the middle of those dead zones. This article will give you a few simple tips for choosing a good set for your home.

Instructions

1. Decide how many extensions you will need. Most cordless phones these days allow you to extend anywhere from two to three to even 10 handsets off of just one phone jack. Therefore you will need to choose a set that will accommodate the number of phones you will need.

2. The higher the GHz, the better off you are. Cordless phones transmit on frequencies anywhere from 1.8 to 5.8 GHz. Generally the higher you go, the better clarity and longer range you get.

3. Get a wi-fi friendly set. If you have a wireless network running at home, you will want one that bills itself "wi-fi friendly." Most are marked as such. Otherwise your phone will interfere with your Internet and vice versa.

4. Consider battery life. You'll want a phone with at least eight hours of talk time, which means you'll get at least six as eight is under optimum conditions. Unless you spend a quarter of your day on the phone, these phones will only need be charged at night like a cell phone.

5. Add bells and whistles. Once you've established the basics, look for features like audio caller ID (which announces the name of the caller out loud), call-waiting ID and intercom ability. Intercom ability will allow you to call one phone from another phone like an intercom.
