Replace A Lens On Canon Cameras

A new lens expands the use of your current Canon camera.

Although the first makings of the Canon camera started in a Tokyo apartment in 1933, the official Canon Camera Company became internationally known in 1947. (Reference 1) Use of cameras which require manual focusing is a way of getting special effects with your photography. Changing lenses is a simple and quick process which will give you the freedom to explore all the individual functions of various Canon camera lenses.

Instructions

1. Remove the lens cover from the back end of the new lens. The front cover can remain on both the old lens and the new lens. To remove the back cover simply rotate counter clockwise until the cover can be removed.

2. Press the lens release button to release the current lens from the camera. Near the base of your Canon camera lens is a small button that will release a latch and allow you to remove the current lens you have on the camera. Press the button and pull the lens to remove the old camera lens from the base of the camera.

3. Align the red mark on the camera with the red mark on the lens. Both the new lens and the camera base will have red marks. The red mark is on the top of the camera lens opening and will be near a white mark on most Canon models.

4. Push the lens into the camera opening. Using gentle pressure, insert the new camera lens into the Canon camera. This should happen easily without much force.

5. Twist the lens 90 degrees to the right. Once the new lens is completely inserted into the camera, hold the camera base firmly while twisting the lens only. You will hear a small click as the lens locks into place.

6. Tug on the lens. A gentle tug on the newly attached lens will ensure the lens is on correctly. If the lens wiggles, remove the lens and retry twisting it into place.
