Technology makes our lives simpler, but this has a downside. Digital cameras make it easy to save and store image files, but a slip of the finger or a corrupt memory card can erase photographs or videos. When you erase files from your camera, intentionally or accidentally, those images aren't wiped from your card, but marked as available space to be written over. Don't take any more photographs if you've accidentally deleted photos you want to recover. Because the space is now marked as "available," many cameras will overwrite it and your photos might be permanently erased. It's possible to recover even after this point, but it might require taking your camera to a professional.
Instructions
1. Type "recover erased files from digital camera" into an online search engine. Browse the results and choose a program specifically designed for digital camera file recovery.
2. Type the program name into online search engine. Verify that the program is reputable. If two or more sites recommend the software, download it to your computer.
3. Double-click on the program's desktop icon (or on the file name in the "Downloads" dialogue box of your Internet browser). Follow the installation instructions.
4. Connect your camera to your computer with its USB cable, or place your flash, media or memory card into a camera card reader connected to your computer.
5. Run the recovery software, which will scan your camera memory card for erased image or video files. The software will ask you for a location to recover from. Type in or click on the make of your digital camera.
6. Click "Start" and the software will begin to search your camera for erased image files. It should begin to show you a list of the images it has recovered.
7. Click on any photo in the list to view it. Select the ones you'd like to save. Click on the "Save" button. The software will save those files to the destination you've selected on your computer.
