Install A Palm Os Garnet 5 In A Palm

The Palm Operating System is software specifically designed for the Palm devices. This operating system allows the Palm devices to access Internet, data services and communicate with Palm applications. The Palm Garnet version 5 is a specialized Palm Operating system that was created for specific Palm devices. The devices that include pre-installed Garnet operating system version 5 include the Palm Centro, Palm Treo 680, Palm Treo 700p, Palm Treo 755p, Palm TX, Palm Tungsten T5, Palm Tungsten E2 and the Palm Z22. You can download the Garnet operating system from the Palm website.


Instructions


1. Visit the Palm website (see References) and click "Support." Click "Phones" and click your phone model.


2. Click the icon for your service provider. Click the "Downloads" tab.


3. Click the "Learn & Download" link next to "Software Update." Click "Download." Double-click the downloaded file link on your screen.


4. Plug one end of the USB cable into the bottom of your Palm device. Plug the other end of the USB cable into the computer. Click the "HotSync" icon on your computer screen. Allow the device to synchronize with the new operating system.


5. Remove the USB cable from the device after the update completes. Remove the battery from the device. Press and hold the "End Call" key while re-inserting the battery.


6. Release the "End Call" key when a new screen appears. Press the "Up" key to erase data in the phone. Press the "Center" button to continue. The phone will turn off and turn back on with the new Garnet operating system version 5 installed.
