My Xm Sureconnect Antenna Won'T Work

An XM SureConnect antenna is a type of antenna designed to enable an XM satellite radio connection in your car. It is not intended for use with any other type of XM satellite radio receiver, like home or personal receivers. It is connected to the satellite radio receiver in your dashboard and functions similarly to a regular car antenna. Instead of receiving signals from AM and FM radio stations, it receives signals directly from Sirius/XM satellites. Many things can affect the performance of your XM SureConnect antenna, including improper installation.

Instructions

1. Unplug your XM SureConnect antenna from your car's power adapter. This power adapter is also commonly referred to as the "cigarette lighter." If you have stopped listening to XM Satellite radio, and are hearing static or interference when listening to AM or FM radio stations, unplugging the power to your SureConnect antenna will stop this interference.

2. Verify that your XM SureConnect antenna is connected properly to the XM receiver in your car. The SureConnect antenna should be plugged into the auxiliary jack on the front of your XM receiver, not in any auxiliary jack on your car's stereo receiver. The XM receiver connects to the stereo receiver, and the SureConnect antenna should be plugged into the XM receiver. Connecting the SureConnect in any other way will result in the device not operating properly.

3. Place the SureConnect antenna on the outside of your car. The SureConnect cable is long enough to be either placed on the roof of your car or on the front or rear window. Placing the antenna on the inside of your car may enable you to hear XM satellite radio stations, but the clarity will not be as high, or the signal as strong, as the antenna installed outside your car. Placing the antenna on the inside also makes it more susceptible to interference, which could result in your service periodically dropping out entirely.
