Make Your Own Night Vision Googles

You can make night vision goggles at home.

Night vision goggles work by light energy and they convert this energy to electrons then back to photons. This occurs once a small amount of light shines onto the lenses of the goggles. When sufficient energy is released by the electrons' movement, they pass out though the lenses, converting electrons to photons, permitting the night vision technology to work. You can utilize this technology yourself and create your own set night vision goggles at home by following a few basic steps.

Instructions

1. Trace the lens of the black goggles on the red and blue theatrical gels with a black marker. This creates a filter for your goggles. You need two red and two blue gel lenses so you have one for each eye.

2. Cut four gel filters with the X-Acto knife. Measure the gel filters on the inside surface of the goggles to be certain they are a proper fit. Trim off excess material.

3. Glue the red gel filter on to the inside surface of the goggles with superglue. Allow this to dry completely then repeat process with the blue gel. Glue the blue gel filter on top of the red on all four corners with the glue.

4. Attach four of the LED lights to each lens along the outer edge of the frames with electrical tape.

5. Attach wires to the three-volt battery. This can be glued to the goggles or carried depending in your preference.

6. Test your goggles to see if the image is clear. If it is not, add an extra LED light and an extra layer of the red and blue gels to your goggles.
