Fire pagers are powerful, multi-channel portable pagers that are used in fire departments and other places for emergency use. These pagers, manufactured by Motorola, are also readily available to the general public. If you have just purchased a fire pager, the first thing you need to do is program it.
Instructions
1. Insert the included programming software disc into the drive on your computer and follow the prompts on-screen to install the software on your computer.
2. Connect the pager sync cable to the DV9 connector on your home computer. This is the input jack on your computer with multiple pin holes. Plug the remaining end of the cable to the back of the programming cable that came with your pager.
3. Locate the selector switch on the top of the pager unit and turn it to the "C" position.
4. Turn the pager off. Then hold in the "Reset" button on the back of the unit and turn the pager back on. You will hear a beep. This signifies that the unit is ready to be programmed.
5. Launch the programming software program on your computer and place the pager securely in the cradle.
6. Select the "Channel" tab on-screen, and a window will appear with information boxes. Locate the "Frequency" text box and click on it. Type in the frequency you plan on using with your pager. Repeat this process if you have a pager with multiple channel options.
7. Quit the program and unplug the programming cable from the computer. Your pager will now be programmed.
