Improve Nextel Reception In A Building

Spotty reception on your Nextel phone can be frustrating, and is particularly common in certain types of buildings that are constructed out of dense materials. If you don't want to switch carriers, try some troubleshooting methods to boost the signal. If these fail, there are external devices you can connect to your phone.

Instructions

1. Use your battery charger to fully charge the battery on your phone. It takes energy to draw a cellular signal and the more power in your battery, the stronger the signal will be.

2. Check the external antenna on your phone. If it is retractable, extend it so that it is fully open.

3. Walk to different areas in the building to see if the signal is stronger in other areas. If none of these tips have worked, proceed to the next step.

4. Purchase a signal booster or external antenna from your local Nextel retailer.

5. Connect the cable at the end of the booster or antenna to the port on your phone. These devices can greatly increase signal strength.
