Memory cards are the modern, versatile alternative to the old floppy disk.
Memory cards have become versatile and high-capacity alternatives to old floppy disks. They can handle more files with far higher file sizes with less chance of corruption. Sometimes it is useful to copy a memory card to CD for more permanent backup reasons and because a CD can be used longer with lower risk of damaging the files.
Instructions
1. Insert a memory card into a memory card reader. Connect the reader to a computer. Wait for the computer to analyze the reader and mount the memory card. The memory card will appear as an icon in "My Computer." Double-click on the card's icon to view its contents.
2. Insert a blank CD into the CD burner. The Autoplay window should appear. If it has been disabled, right-click on the CD drive's icon. Select "Autoplay" from the popup menu. Select the "Burn files to disc" option. Click "Show formatting options" and select "Mastered" to allow the CD to be read in most CD drives. An explorer window for the CD will appear.
3. Drag and drop the contents of the memory card's explorer window into the blank CD's explorer window. When all files have been dragged and dropped, click "Burn to disc" from the toolbar. Give the disc a title when prompted and click "Next." Select an appropriate burning speed and click "Next." The memory card will then be copied to the CD.
