Change File Size With Kodak Easyshare

Simple menus make changing file sizes quick and simple.

Kodak's EasyShare range of digital cameras aim to make saving, transferring and sharing your saved photos quick and simple. Users can adjust settings on the camera to predetermine the resolution and file size of future pictures. Alternatively, EasyShare software installed on a computer allows users to reduce the size of previously saved images to better suit them for emailing, uploading to websites, printing or other purposes.

Instructions

Changing the File Size on the Camera

1. Press the "Menu" button on the camera.

2. Select the "Picture Size" option using the arrow buttons. Click the "OK" button.

3. Select the picture resolution your photos to be saved as. You will have the following options: 8 megapixel (4:3), 7.1 megapixel (3:2), 5.3 megapixel (16:9), 5 megapixel (4:3), 3.1 megapixel (4:3), 2.5 megapixel (3:2), 2.1 megapixel (16:9) and 1.2 megapixel (4:3). Resolutions with lower megapixel will allow you to store more photos on your memory card but the quality of the final image will be lower.

4. Click "OK" on the resolution option you want to use. This will be saved and will require you to follow the above steps if you wish to change it in the future.

Changing the File Size on a Computer

5. Open the Kodak EasyShare software on your computer. If you don't have it, you can download it for free.

6. Click on "Add Pictures" in the EasyShare software. Select the saved images you want to resize from the browser that appears. You can also drag images onto the software window if you have the image folder open.

7. Select an image in the EasyShare software screen by clicking on it once. Click on "File" on the top left of the screen, then click on "Save as." In the "Resize pic" option you can choose to reduce the image down to 75, 50 or 25 percent of the original size by checking the box. You can only reduce the size of previously saved images, not increase.

8. Select the folder you want to save the image to from the open browser. Click "Save". The resized image will now be stored in the selected folder.
