Take Stills From Camcorders

Many camcorders have a separate still photograph function.

Digital camcorders are often designed with a still picture function for taking photographs. The still picture function allows you to leave your digital camera at home instead of having the burden of carrying a separate camcorder and camera. Though each has different icons or labels for their buttons, dials and switches, the method for taking still pictures is generally the same from camcorder to camcorder.

Instructions

1. Pull open the LCD screen on the side of the camcorder. Many camcorders turn on when the LCD screen is opened. Press the "Power" button on your camcorder if opening the LCD screen does not turn on the power.

2. Turn the "Mode" dial or switch to the photograph function. Many camcorders have a camera icon on the Mode dial for taking still photographs. Other camcorders use the camcorder icon for still photographs.

3. Point the camcorder at the subject of the photograph and frame it using the LCD screen.

4. Press the dedicated "Photograph" button halfway to focus the subject of the picture. The Photograph button on your camcorder may have a "Photo" label, or other similar term, or a camera icon.

5. Push the "Photograph" button fully to take the still picture once the subject is in focus.
