Portable DVD players must be secured in the car to avoid being a safety hazard. A headrest DVD player will provide a video screen without the player having to be held. A few supplies from an aftermarket car supply store are required. The headrest DVD player does not require any drilling or other invasive methods that could damage the car.
Instructions
1. Insert the connected wiring from the headrest DVD player into the headrest slot at the top edge of the passenger seat. Push the wiring down through the length of the passenger seat using the end of the ruler.
2. Reach under the passenger seat. Reach up, grab the wiring and pull it out from under the seat.
3. Insert the side struts of the headrest into the slot at the top edge of the passenger seat with the LCD screen on the headrest DVD player facing the rear of the car.
4. Open the hood of the car. Detach the two cables connected to the battery to disengage the car's electrical wiring system.
5. Run the wiring from beneath the passenger seat across the back bottom of the passenger and driver's seat. Apply a strip of double-sided tape to secure the wiring to the inner runner at the edge of the car by the back of the driver's seat. Run the wiring along the length of the car to the front. Secure the wiring against the inner runner at the edge of the car with double-sided tape.
6. Follow the instructions to install an aftermarket wiring harness that is appropriate for the make of the car to the car's electrical power supply. The connection is typically beneath the driver's steering wheel, although it could be installed in a different location, depending upon the make of the car.
7. Remove the protective plastic seal from the LCD screen on the headrest DVD player. Reattach the cables to the car's battery.
