Tripp Lite is a manufacturer of a large selection of electronics including power supplies, adapters, chargers, power strips and smart racks. Tripp Lite also makes a variety of portable power inverters. Power inverters are devices that allow one to use standard electronic devices that run on 120-volt AC on direct current from their car or truck battery. Inverters have a lead that is plugged into the cigarette lighter. The electric cord of the device to be used, like a fan or camera charger, is then plugged into the female end of the inverter. The Tripp Lite inverter may need to be disassembled in order to replace a bad component like a capacitor or resistor.
Instructions
1. Turn the power switch on the Tripp Lite inverter to the off position and then disconnect any electronic devices that are plugged into it.
2. Disconnect the inverter from the cigarette lighter of your vehicle and place it on a table, bench or other area where you can work on it.
3. Unscrew the plastic red and black terminal caps that hold the inverter charger wire down and slide the wire off. Use a pair of pliers to remove the terminals from the outside of the inverter.
4. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the fuse casing to the outside of the inverter. Pull the fuse casing off and then use a pair of needle-nose pliers to pull the fuse out.
5. Remove the inverter case screws. The number of case screws may vary with different models. However, there are typically four screws on each side.
6. Slide the inverter case to the right-hand side and then pull it up and off.
