The Coolpix L11 is a consumer point-and-shoot camera from Nikon. The Ikelite Sunstrobe100a is a strobe light meant for underwater photography. The Coolpix L11 and Ikelite 100a are not directly compatible, but with the addition of the Ikelite exposure value controller, the two devices can work together.
Coolpix L11 Compatibility Problems
The Coolpix L11 is uanble to connect directly to the Ikelite 100a because it has no hot shoe and, therefore, no way to plug into an external strobe, such as the Ikelite Sunstrobe 100a.
Built-In Flash
The Nikon L11 has a built-in flash, which allows it to illuminate objects in front of it as it records pictures.
Adding the Exposure Value Controller
The Ikelite Exposure Value Controller, when connected to the Ikelite 100a, triggers the 100a strobe light whenever it sees another flash firing. By positioning the EV controller near the Nikon L11's built-in flash, the 100a Sunstrobe will fire in sync with the flash of the L11.
