Use The Evotech Endoscope Cleaner

An evotech endoscope cleaner saves time on manual cleaning after surgery.

The Evotech endoscope cleaner and reprocessor (ECR) is an automated medical device for cleaning and disinfecting clinical endoscopes. According to research conducted by Michelle Alfa and colleagues in the "BMC Infectious Diseases" journal in 2010, using the Evotech ECR was found superior to cleaning an endoscope manually. Based upon these findings, using the ECR reduces labor and time costs associated with manual cleaning. The Evotech ECR additionally reduces the chance of bacterial infections introduced to a patient by a manually cleaned endoscope.

Instructions

1. Locate the Evotech ECR in a room with an ambient temperature of between 59 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit, with a noncondensing humidity of between 10 and 80 percent. Ensure that the unit is on a level surface not exceeding 1 degree from a vertical position. Allow a 3-inch gap at the back of the ECR for ventilation.

2. Ensure access to a dedicated power outlet for the Evotech ECR. Check that the standpipe and floor drainage system complies with the manufacturer's recommendations. Use only Advanced Sterilization Products cleaning solutions for its Evotech ECR to comply with the stated efficacy of the cleaning results.

3. Choose which of the two independently operated basins to use and step on the corresponding floor pedal to open the lid. Attach the endoscope in the basin by following the color coded schematic diagram on the front of the unit. Step on the floor pedal to close the lid.

4. Input your user ID into the control panel on the front of the ECR. Choose "Process Endoscope" by touching the screen. Type the endoscope make and model in the query boxes using the keypad on the touch screen. Set the cleaning and reprocessing cycle and touch "Start."

5. Disconnect the endoscope from the basin once the cleaning cycle finishes. Check the print out for the cleaning cycle data, located on the left side of the Evotech ECR. Look at the listed monitoring results throughout the whole 30 minute cleaning cycle to check for correct enzymatic and disinfectant solution concentrations, alcohol reprocessing results and for leak test results on the endoscope.
