Program A Ge 29876c Answering Machine

The GE 2-9876 digital telephone answerer is a tape-less answering machine that can record up to 14 minutes of messages or 40 messages, whichever occurs first. The unit has three separate mail boxes and is capable of storing two different announcements that can be easily toggled between with the touch of a button. If you are away from you unit, you can remotely check your messages by dialing your phone number and entering a special code found on the bottom of the unit.

Instructions

1. Press the "Answer On" button to enable the call answering on the unit. When enabled, you will hear the message "Answer functions are on."

2. Set the time and day using the "Hour," "Minute" and "Day" buttons located on the side of the unit. Each time a button is pressed, the field will advance one unit (minute, hour or day). Holding the minute button rather than pressing it will advance the minutes setting 5 minutes at a time. During the programming process, the voice will announce each setting. Once the time and date are correct, it is not necessary to press any additional buttons.

3. Record your outgoing messages by holding either the "Announce 1" or "Announce 2" button, located on the top of the unit. Wait for the unit to beep, then, while still holding the button, speak your outgoing message in the direction of the unit, approximately 9 inches away. Release the button when you have completed recording.

4. Select which outgoing message you would like to use by pressing either the "Announce 1" or "Announce 2" button.

5. Limit the maximum length of messages that can be left by callers by adjusting the "Incoming Messages" switch on the rear of the answering machine to either the "2 Minute" or "4 Minute" positions.

6. Adjust the volume of the answering machine's speaker using the volume control dial, located on the side of the answering machine.

7. Choose the number of rings that must pass prior to the answering machine answering the call by adjusting the "Ring Select" switch to the "2," "4" or "Toll Saver" position. When the answering machine is in "Toll Saver" mode, it will answer after 4 rings, unless there is a new message, at which point it will answer after 2 rings.
