Get The Nikon D40x Self Timer To Stay On

A tripod can be used to hold the camera as it counts down.

The Nikon D40X is a medim-level DLSR camera. Among its features is a delayed self-time. In this shooting mode, the camera will countdown 10 seconds before taking the photo. This can be useful for placing yourself in the image or syncing the timing of composition elements. The self-timer can be activated from the camera's shooting menu.

Instructions

1. Turn on the camera and press the "Info" button on the top of the camera. Then press the "I" button on the back of the camera.

2. Navigate to the "[S]" option, which controls the camera drive mode and press "OK." Highlight the "10s" option and press "OK."

3. Press the shutter button halfway to return to shooting mode. Aim the camera at the subject and press the shutter button halfway again to gain focus.

4. Press the shutter button fully to initiate the 10-second delayed photo. Keep the camera steady until the image is taken. This can be done by holding it in place or placing it on a tripod or steady surface.
