The Garmin 350 is a car-mounted GPS unit. The GPS, or global positioning system, is used to track your movements via satellite. But with the Garmin 350, it is also used to give you accurate directions to a destination and, if you take a wrong turn, to recalculate the directions and get you back on your route.
Getting started
When you enter your car, power on the Garmin 350. It will take a moment for the system to boot up. Once the operating system on the Garmin 350 has loaded, it will take another moment for the GPS unit to locate you via the satellite. Once this has happened, you will be shown your current location on the display map. If you want to zoom in or zoom out, press the plus or minus image on the sides of the display (the Garmin 350 has an enabled touch screen).
Inputting your route
Press down the route button on the bottom of the screen. A new screen display will appear with several different selections. Press the "Menu" button, followed by "Where to Go?" From here the display will be turned into a virtual keyboard. Type in the street address of the location, followed by the city and state (the ZIP code doesn't hurt either). Hit "Enter" and the location will be placed into the Garmin 350. Wait a moment and the device will use the GPS to plan out the best route for you to take when driving to your destination.
Drive to your destination
Follow the instructions given to you by the Garmin 350. The display will not only show you where you need to turn, but a voice will tell you when a turn is coming up and in what direction. As you drive, the Garmin 350 will show just how much time is left in your trip, and how much time you have before your next turn or different direction. Once you reach your desired destination, the Garmin 350 will state that you have arrived and you will be able to power down the system.
