Scan Pictures With Software

Scan Pictures with Software

Scanning photos has become a way to save and share pictures. Many people scan and store their pictures on CDs instead of printing hard copies. Scanning pictures allows you to share your pictures on the Internet. There are many types of software programs available to help you get the job done. Most flatbed printers have scanning software built in and once the software is installed on your computer, scanning your pictures becomes a simple task.

Instructions

1. Turn on your scanner by pressing the power button. Lift the lid of the scanner and place your photo face down on the glass. Close the lid.

2. Open your scanner software by double clicking the scanner icon on your desktop. Click "Next" or "Continue" to move to the next screen once the scanner software opens. You will see a new screen with scanning options.

3. Choose how you want to scan your picture. Most software will have options such as color, black and white, grayscale or custom. Custom settings will allow you to choose what DPI (dots per inch), you want to use to scan your picture. Choose 600 DPI or more for printing pictures.

4. Click once on the preview button. Your scanner will make a quick scan of your picture. If you don't like the preview of your picture, change the scan settings before you make your final scan. If the preview is good, click once on the "Next" or "Continue button." You will see a new screen that will ask what you want to name your picture, and where you want to store your scanned image.

5. Type a name for your scanned image in the name box. Then decide how you want to save your scanned image. Most scanners save your scanned images as a JPG (Joint Photographic Experts Group). There are other options available, but JPG files are the most common.

6. Click the "Browse" button, and locate the folder called "My Pictures." Click once on that file to open it. At the bottom of the window, click once on the "New Folder" button. A new folder will appear on the screen. This is where you will store your scanned image.

7. Type the name you have chosen for your scanned image in the box that says, "New Folder." Then click "OK". Click the "Next" button once and a new screen will appear that shows the progress of the scan. Click the "Next" button once when the scan is complete.

8. Click the link on the next window, or click "Finish" to view your scanned image. A new window will open to display your scanned image.
