Apply to Sanford Brown Institute
Sanford Brown Institute offers focused areas of study in the medical field. The college has campuses throughout the United States, particularly in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Texas, Florida and New York. The school is accredited by various reputable higher learning organizations, including the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). Programs offered by the school are medical assisting, billing and coding, and nursing.
Instructions
1. Meet the admission requirements. Provide proof that you graduated from high school or earned a GED. Ask the campus admissions office for an enrollment agreement if you are not at least 18 years old when you apply to the school. Sign the agreement with your parents and submit the form with your application.
2. Fill out the required enrollment application. You can complete the application online through the school's website (see Resources). Create a login and password to access the electronic application. Contact the admissions office to schedule and complete an admissions interview in person, via the telephone or via email. Submit college transcripts from other postsecondary schools you attended if you want to transfer credits to Sanford Brown Institute. Sign a statement of general health to certify that you are in good health.
3. Apply to the right program. Review a list of available programs (see Resources). Contact the admissions office and ask about requirements to apply to the program you are interested in. Take required admission examinations for the program.
4. Submit applicable admissions fees. As of January 2009, the school charged a $25 admission fee, and the average cost of tuition in 2008 was $14,500. More specialized programs such as cardiovascular technology are more expensive. For example, in 2008 both the cardiovascular technology and diagnostic medical sonography programs cost $34,845.
5. Contact the Sanford Brown's financial aid office and complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Note that financial aid programs used and accepted at Sanford-Brown Institute include: the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal Stafford Loans, Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS), private loans, employer reimbursement, veterans' benefits and agency funding (Vocational Rehabilitation, Workforce Investment Act).
Apply for one of Sanford Brown Institute's scholarships such as the Family Scholarship which is granted in the amount of $1,000. Keep in mind that the Family Scholarship is open to immediate family members of students currently attending the school. Submit an application for the Military and Dependant Scholarship which is also granted in the amount of $1,000. Note that immediate dependants of military personnel are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
