Element Electronics makes high-definition televisions that offer an owner several menu choices when setting up the television. Pulse Code Modulation is a means to transform standard audio wave signals into a digital format without much compression. The Element TV uses a Sony-Philips Digital Interface Format that offers PCM as one of its audio options.
Pulse Code Modulation
Pulse code modulation transmits analog data into digital data. When you have a VCR hooked up to your television, to get the better sound quality from the television, you might want to change this output on your Element TV's menu. Select Menu from the Element TV's remote, and from the onscreen display menu, press the down or up button to reach the Audio function. From there select the arrow that points to the right, to enter the Audio system. Move down to the SPDIF option, and press the right- or left-facing arrow on the remote to change the audio options available under SPDIF. Select PCM when you want to transfer analog waves into digital.
Other Audio Features
The Element TVs also allow adjustment for balance, an in-built equalizer system, surround sound and auto volume control. The television also allows via the SPDIF selection, to choose Dolby Digital, the Off feature and choose the optical audio type used with the television. The television has options to hook up an optional sound system through standard RCA cables.
Front Cabinet Menu Operation
The Element HDTV also provides options to access menu functions right from the frame surrounding the television's screen. The television comes with two HDMI hookups, two component video hookups, an S-Video connection, a coaxial cable hookup and VGA access, and a VGA audio in. On the back of the TV is a Service jack for updates. The system also provides RCA jacks for audio hookups as well.
