General Lee
Yee haw! It's that special someone's birthday and you want to celebrate it in true Southern fashion. What could be more fun than a party centered on a classic TV show? The Dukes of Hazard are as American as apple pie and baseball and are just as crowd-pleasing if you just put in a little effort.
Go All Out with Costumes
Those Southern boys sure do know turn heads, and with a little research you can copy their famous style. Send out themed invitations to let everyone know costumes are expected. Check out your local second-hand shops to look for Bo's classic plaid button-down shirt or Luke's tight black muscle T-shirt. Finish off the look with cowboy boots and tight blue jeans.
It's possible no one has done more for the jean short than Miss Daisy Duke. If you're a brave soul go ahead, flaunt your assets! Tiny shorts and a plaid shirt tied at the waist leave little doubt as to whom you're modeled after. For more modest types, a cowboy hat, teased hair, and a T-shirt with a plaid blouse get the message across.
Setting the Mood
Music will provide instant ambiance to transport your guests back to the 1970s. Of course the Good 'ol Boys theme song should be included in your playlist but there are a number of fun country songs you can chose to set the mood.
Continue the theme by making good use of the ubiquitous color of General Lee: orange. Burnt orange is a common thread in the series and, mixed with black and red, will definitely get your theme across. Try buying balloons in these colors or decorating with streamers.
