Tropicaltheme Christmas Trees

About Tropical-Theme Christmas Trees

Whether you live in a tropical climate around Christmas or are very far from it and are knee deep in snow, a tropical-themed Christmas tree is very festive and unique. It brings the tropical summer home to you and your family at the coldest time of the year.

Identification

A tropical-themed Christmas tree is void of traditional ornaments and decorations. The ornaments are items such as palm trees, Hawaiian hula dancers, pineapples, coconuts, tropical flowers, leis and exotic animals including monkeys, parrots and toucans. Even the Santa Claus ornaments or decorations should be tropical.

Types

There are two main types of tropical-themed Christmas trees. There is the actual traditional pine tree decorated in tropical decor and ornaments, or the actual palm tree dressed in Christmas lights and oversized traditional ornaments. Both work well for this effect. The palm tree is a great thing to use if you live in an area where there are actual palm trees, especially if you have them in your front yard. If you don't live in a place that has palm trees readily available, the traditional Christmas tree decorated in tropical decorations will bring the vibe home.

Size

The size of the trees depends on what you would like. If you generally buy a big pine tree for your Christmas tree, all the more room to decorate with tropical and exotic decorations. If you just want to have a little of the tropics, a small tree will do. The palm trees will depend on what you have.

Significance

Because Christmas is generally associated with cold weather, snow and the North Pole, having a tropical-themed Christmas tree is especially unique. If you are the kind of person who would like to live in summertime always, a tropical-themed Christmas tree makes the cold months more bearable. Some people who are actually from tropical places may like this kind of tree if they are no longer living there--or even if they are.

Potential

The potential when creating a tropical-themed Christmas tree is limitless. A little goes a long way, but a lot does also. You can bring in natural elements if you have them, like flowers and fresh leis, or seashells and dried-out starfish. You can also bring in fresh fruit and strings of popcorn. And if you want, continue the theme with Christmas cards, home decor and your holiday outfit.
