The Pentax Optio 33L is a small, hand-held, point and shoot digital camera. Pentax designed these cameras with lenses that retract into the camera housing when the unit is off, preventing damage to sensitive optics. The Optio takes CF cards to hold images and uses a rechargeable lithium battery to power the camera. If the lens won't open when you press the power button on your Optio 33L, there are some troubleshooting tips to run through to try and get your camera functioning again.
Instructions
1. Open the battery compartment and remove the battery. Place the battery into the Optio battery charger and plug the charger into a wall socket. Look for a green or red light on the charger. If red, the battery needs to be charged. Charge the battery and place it in the camera. Press "Power" to see if the recharged battery fixes the problem.
2. Check the CF card slot and covering. If the CF card is loose or the cover is ajar, the unit will not power on. Push the CF card into the housing and close the CF cover. Try the power again.
3. Open the battery compartment again and remove the battery. Check to see if the battery was installed properly, and the connectors are lined up. Brush off the battery connection points, install properly and turn the unit on.
