Use A 12 Volt Dvd On A 240 Volt

A typical power adapter.

Modern automobiles often contain portable DVD players and audio systems. A portable automotive DVD player uses a 12V DC outlet as its power source. To use an automotive DVD player inside a home, the DVD player would need a 12V power source. A wall outlet, when used in conjunction with a DC adapter plug, can supply electrical power for the DVD player.

Instructions

1. Adapter tips are clearly marked as to which wire is positive.

Snip the adapter tip, and strip 1/2 inch of insulation from the wire ends. Pull apart the adapter wire ends until there is a 6-inch separation between the wire ends.

2. Slip one of the alligator clips over the positive adapter wire, and solder the clip to the wire. Slip the remaining clip over the negative adapter wire, and solder the clip to the wire.

3. Attach the positive alligator clip to the "Power" wire on the DVD player. Attach the negative alligator clip to the "Ground" wire on the DVD player. Plug the adapter into a wall outlet. Turn on the DVD player.
