Wire Boston Acoustic Proseries To An Amp

Boston Acoustic's lineup of Pro Series car speakers are a high-quality aftermarket alternative to the stock speakers put into cars by the manufacturers. Since they can handle high amounts of power, they're suitable for use with an aftermarket external amplifier. To achieve the best performance, it's necessary to connect the speakers properly to the amplifier.

Instructions

1. Identify the parts of your Pro Series speakers. In each pair, you'll find two woofers (the larger speakers), two tweeters (smaller speakers), and a set of crossovers (rectangular boxes with wiring set screws). Split them up into two groups, each group having a woofer, tweeter, and crossover.

2. Connect the wiring leads from the tweeter to the crossover. First, strip about 3/8 inch of insulation from the tweeter's speaker leads, and then connect the wire marked "+" to the set screw marked " Tweeter +". Tighten the set screw. Repeat the process with the "-" wire, connecting to the "Tweeter - " set screw. Do this for both tweeters, connecting one to each crossover.

3. Connect the woofer to the crossover. With a piece of speaker wire, connect the "+" terminal of the woofer to the set screw marked "Woofer +" on the crossover. Repeat with the woofer's "-" terminal, connecting it to the set screw marked "Woofer -". Do this for both woofers, connecting one to each crossover.

4. Connect the crossover to the amplifier. Strip 3/8 inch of insulation off of each end of a length of speaker wire. Connect the set screw terminal marked "+" on the crossover to the terminal marked "Output +" on the amplifier. Repeat for the "-" terminals. Do this for both crossovers, connecting one to each of the amplifiers outputs.
