Problems With A Treo 700p External Antenna Adapter

The Palm Treo 700P cell phone, like most Palms, has a wide array of accessories. One of these, the External Antenna Adapter, is used to connect your Treo 700P to an external cellular antenna for increased reception. When using the External Antenna Adapter, be aware of some common problems that can arise.

No Connection

When your Treo 700P is plugged in using the External Antenna Adapter, it might not make a connection. If this is the case, verify that both ends of the adapter are securely plugged in. Remove each end of the adapter and firmly slide them back in until a tight connection has been made. If no connection is being made to the external antenna, the problem might lie in the jacks themselves. Try a different external antenna. If this doesn't work, your Treo 700P is defective and needs to be serviced.

Defective cable

If you have problems with your External Antenna Adapter, verify that your cable is not damaged. Check the metal connectors at either end of the cable for signs of damage, such as chipping or bent metal. Make sure the cord has no kinks and is fully extended when in use. Check the cord for signs of damage, such as rips, punctures or bites from a pet.

Compatability

Make sure the External Antenna Adapter you purchased is compatible with your Treo 700P. There are many different kinds of adapters for different Treo phones. Check the packaging to ensure your Treo 700P model is listed and. Bring your phone to the store and ask the employee if you can try the adapter out before you buy it.
