Print A Color Photo

Print out your favorite pictures right from home.

Printing pictures used to be somewhat of a hassle. Today, you can quickly and inexpensively print your own colored photos right at home on your own computer. All you need is a printer, colored ink and photo paper to print out high quality pictures. What's even better, you can crop, adjust, erase red eye, hide blemishes and enlarge your pictures by yourself right at home. Insert your camera's memory card into your computer (or hook up your camera to the computer through a USB cord), and you're all ready to print your photos.

Instructions

1. Ensure that your inkjet printer-or dye-sublimation printer-is properly hooked up to your computer. Inkjet and dye-sublimation printers work best to print out high-quality photos. The most common printers today are inkjets.

2. Open the printer's cover. Remove the black-and-white ink cartridge from the printer, if necessary. Insert the colored ink cartridge into the cartridge slot.

3. Remove any old printer paper from the paper tray. Properly insert the photo paper into the paper tray. HP, Canon, Kodak and Epson all make high-quality photo printer paper. Your printer may need you to place the photo paper into the tray with the photo side facing down.

4. Open Windows Photo Gallery. Click on the photos that you want to print from your computer.

5. Choose the print size of the picture on the right side of the screen. The standard size of a photo is 4 inches wide by 6 inches long (4-by-6).

6. Select "Print" from the toolbar. A separate dialog box will open; in that box, select "Print" again.
