Optimize Your Home Theater System For Watching Movies

With a well-optimized home theater system, you can turn your living room into a movie theater. Follow the steps below to make create a home theater and get ready for a quality viewing experience.

Instructions

1. Get the gear you need for a good movie watching system. You'll want to purchase a TV that has the best quality picture. HD quality will look the best on aTV. You'll want to make sure that your DVD player has the best capable output to your TV system. You'll want to use Component Video, S-Video or Serial Video for the best possible picture output to the TV. You can purchase home theater equipment at Best Buy, American or online at hometheaterstore.com (see Resources below).

2. Set up your sound system to enhance the movie viewing experience. Your best bet is to go with a Dolby 5.0 surround sound 5 or 6 speaker system. Set your system to "Dolby Surround Mode" to make your living room sound like a theater.

3. Arrange your furniture so that your viewing chair is in the center of your room. You'll want to make sure that your surround sound speakers are properly set around your viewing area in their ideal positions.

4. Make sure the movie you're watching supports digital sound and is formatted in digital video. Most new movies will be formatted in digital video and have the most advanced sound capabilities.
