Keep your cat happy and healthy with homemade flea treatments.
Keeping your cat free from fleas can be a risky business; many mass-produced flea products contain potentially harmful and deadly ingredients. To keep your cat healthy and relatively flea-free, make your own shampoo at home with all-natural ingredients. Your cat will thank you and the environment will thank you as well. This shampoo will not prevent fleas, but it will help remove fleas already on your pet.
Instructions
1. Use a recycled shampoo bottle to store your solution.
Mix the glycerin, dish soap, apple cider vinegar, and water and store in an old shampoo bottle or liquid soap bottle. Clean any residue out of the storage bottle before filling it.
2. Shake the bottle before each use as the glycerin tends to separate from the other ingredients.
3. Wet the cat, then apply the shampoo and lather the fur completely.
4. Rinse the cat thoroughly with clean water after bathing.
5. Store the shampoo in the refrigerator to maintain freshness of the ingredients.
Tips Warnings
Fill a tub or bucket with water before immersing your cat. Running water can be very disturbing to felines. Have another bucket of fresh water ready to rinse your cat.
Do not bathe your cat more than once every month to keep from drying out its skin. Cats can be quite averse to water, so ask a friend to help you to avoid accidental injury.
