Airports Near Chattanooga Tennessee

Chattanooga's regional airport isn't the only airport in the area.


If you're looking to travel to or from East Tennessee by plane, there are a few airports near the city of Chattanooga that you may be able to use. Where you are coming from or going to and what type of plane you are in will determine which airport you might use. Chattanooga is a mountainous city on the Georgia state line that has a lot for visitors to see. Among the attractions are Lookout Mountain, Rock City, The Tennessee Aquarium and a minor league ballpark.


Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport


Chattanooga's local airport is located just a few minutes from the downtown area and most hotels in the city. Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport is a regional facility servicing other regional airports as well as nine major ones. Direct flights to Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Memphis, Orlando, the District of Columbia and Tampa are available.


Although it is a small airport, the facility has many of the same basic amenities of larger hubs. There are ATMs and free wireless Internet connections throughout the airport. Visitors can also take advantage of a business center with free local calls, data ports, snacks and beverages, newspapers and a television viewing area.

Lookout Mountain Airport


Visitors arriving in private aircraft may choose to contact the owner of Lookout Mountain Airport. This privately owned facility located in Dade County, Georgia, on Lookout Mountain is 563 feet above sea level and is built on 45 acres.


Lookout Mountain Airport only has one runway, a turf runway suitable for single-engine aircraft. The runway is 2000 feet long and 50 feet wide.

Dallas Bay Sky Park


Located just 11 miles north of Chattanooga in the town of Hixon, Dallas Bay Sky Park is a public use airport and hangar facility that is privately owned. The facility has two small runways, a fueling station and a selection of hangers and tie-downs for pilots wishing to park their planes here.


Dallas Bay operates an average of 70 flights from the airport each week and is home to 35 aircraft, including 32 single engine planes and one helicopter. The small airport is used primarily for local aviation and as a flight school. A small percentage of flights are planes from other areas in transit to other locations that stop in Hixon for refueling or other needs.
