anyone-used-those-furniture-glide-pads

anyone used those furniture glide pads?

You know, the ones that claim one person can move a whole china cabinet! I have an armoire with a 42 tv inside that my wife wants to relocate ten feet from its present position. Do those pads really work? They do work for certain things like sofas and chairs. But you are dealing with a top heavy situation. MY opinion, take the TV out before moving the armoire, and everything else in it. Then use the movers. Good luck. We just moved our triple dresser, armore, bed, etc using the moving men without a problem - it did take both of us, though. We did remove the drawers and TV to make it as light as possible. Good luck! Is it on carpet or hardwood flooring? My dad put teflon pads on the bottom of their china cabinet when they moved in their new house. When he had to move the cabinet later, it was pretty easy to move, but it was on hardwood floors and two of us moved it. Good luck! I've used the moving men pads and other brands. You need to purchase the largest possible, as the small coaster-sized ones slip off the leg of the table you want to move. If you have carpet, great, very easy. If you have hardwood or tile, place a thick towel on the floor first, then the mover atop of the towel, this will prevent any scratching. You can move everything yourself with such ease and no longer have to wait for help from neighbors and friends. Yes, we recently helped my sister move a piece of furniture she has named 'The Behemoth'--a display cabinet that is 6'tall 117 long--to another room using the pads it was (dare I say it?) easy! My husband was so impressed he bought a set on our next trip to the home improvement store. We just used them yesterday to move the piano and china cab, will be moving the entertainment center today. They are well worth the cost. Yes, I've used the glider pads to move a solid oak 6 drawer dresser that I did not want to have to take everything out of. It took 2 of us to move it across my carpeted floor but it was so much easier than it would have been without them. Just make sure when you place them that you leave some of the pad showing. They are very inexpensive, its worth a try. I've used them to move a king-sized double bed, single-handed, in a bedroom with a finished wooden floor. And I'm a weakling. I've also used them to move diningroom furniture -- but do follow the above advice about top-heavy furniture. I removed my wife's glassware from the high cabinet shelves before I tried gliding the cabinets across the floor. I've got all kinds of the moving men discs. They are the best thing invented, especially for someone alone. I always hate asking everyone to help move things. I have a new kind that has felt on the bottom and I find they work best on wood floors. I also have a brick floor and keep a set of the regular ones for this purpose, because when you move anything on cement, brick, etc. it scratches the moving men disc. So you don't want to use that one on a wood floor. I also bought a while back this lever thing at Harbor Freight Tools, that lifts the furniture so you can put the pad under it. You slide it under the furniuter and press down on the other end with your foot or hand if you are strong and it lift the piece enough to slide the pad under it. Good luck, you'll wonder how you did without them before.
