Need plans for building a utility trailer
I'm wanting to build a 4x8 trailer with ramp and was wondering if anybody has plans for one? This one looks interesting. The author states that plans may be downloaded: http://gt1.homeip.net/project-trailer.htm Check out Northern tool. They have quite a few plans for purchase. Free is better though. Thanks guys! Yes free is better. I'm not too bad of a fabricator, just looking for some plans to see if it is feasible to build one from scratch or transform one into what I want. New ones are $1200-1400! Wow! I figured I could make or transform one for a lot less. You might be surprised. Steel is not cheap. Look on Craigslist for a fixer upper. Yep, been searching everyday. I'm just looking at all options. I do like to build things, but your right, I haven't priced steel yet. I don't really have a parts list either. Thanks for the feedback! North Plains Dr, I don't know how prices are in your area. But I just came back from Lows. A 4X8 trailer with a wooden deck, and a ramp, 2000 lb rating was $700.00. With all the parts needed, and steel, would most likely come close. Then you add in your time, and you are way over. I'm starting to look at buying a tralier that is close to my specs and modifing it. But man, there is alot of junk out there! North Plains Dr, Since you want to modify it to meet your needs. Have you looked at any boat trailers, it shouldn't be that hard to put a deck on that. And you already have the frame and running gear, not mention a Registration and serial number. Hi. Great looking trailer. Like the design with tubing rather than angle. Looks like you put a lot of thought into the project The drawing download doesn't seem to work. I see people use the chassis of travel trailers, just remember they depend on the body for their rigidity and the frames are quite light. Also the axel must be set so as to put more weight on the tongue than on the back of the trailer or it won't track right.
